HACKED BY YOUR BESTIE

<3
Because this is us.
{for those of you who don't understand the title, I, Eva, have hacked Jane's blog for the evening.  It's a super special occasion - the one year anniversary of our friendship, in fact - and you probably won't understand much of this besides the fact that I think she's awesomeness-sauce.  So, if you don't want to read this, you don't have to.  It's more of a letter to her, really, but you're welcome to stay if you want, just...be warned of craziness ahead}

One year ago, today, I read an email.  It was from a gal who'd been commenting on my blog for sometime, one who I'd designed a blog for, one who'd sent me an email that said something along the lines of "Hey, when you're done designing my blog, could we exchange emails?  Because I'd totally like to get to know you." {wording varies...I'm almost positive she could pull up the exact email, but my emails are a bear to sort through, so...}  And, with a grin, I opened up a new email and sent it off to her.  I'm terrible at telling people all about myself right off, so I asked her if she could tell me her likes/dislikes and I then I could tell her mine.  So she did...and it quickly got crazy. {a good kind of crazy}

Yes.

We liked {and still do like} all of the same stuff!  The same flavour of ice cream {mint chocolate...just reading those words brings up a flood of memories and insides jokes now}, the same classical composer {Vivaldi}, all the same classic books...EVERYTHING.  And the stuff one of us liked, but that the other hadn't read/watched/listened to was still talked about until eventually the other person got to experience it too.  Like Johnny Tremain.  Honestly, Jane, I'm so incredibly grateful that you introduced me to JT.  And 39 Clues.  And The Westing Game.  It works both ways, actually, since I got her super-obsessed with Jack Cavanaugh's books.  FOR THE WIN. *ahem*  Rabbit trail there...

AHHH. @evaschon Where can these be bought, Sherlock?? =)
didn't we work out that I'm Holmes and you're Watson?
We have so many inside jokes I couldn't even be able to count them.  Oodles of nicknames for each other.  Frozen is 'our' musical and '[Friendship] Is An Open Door' is totally our song. {so is 'For Good', but that's more mainstream, y'know?}  We've exchanged several REAL letters, countless emails {honestly} and tons of Skype chats. {we text-chat on Skype as well}  If the international rates weren't so high, we'd probably call each other on the phone as well.  We watch movies together {okay, just episodes of Rat Patrol, but we want to branch out sometime soon} and basically do a bunch of awesome stuff.  Now, you might think that since we both like all the same things, we couldn't possibly find stuff to talk about all the time...

*bursts into gales of laughter*
*wipes tears of laughter away*
*clears throat*

Sorry.  Sorry about that.  But we talk to each other all the time, and our emails are still going strong.  We've laughed together and cried together and, I'll admit it, even been angry at each other at times.  But, you know what?  We're still friends after a year, and I think that's awesome.  I have a few close friends, but Jane is the only one I can be totally crazy with.  Unintelligible gibberish sent at all hours because I'm having a feels attack.  Sending her horrible first drafts because I know she won't rip it {and me} to shreds.  Chatting about weird stuff, pretty much in code, because of inside jokes.  AND THE WHOLE THING MAKES ME SO HAPPY.  HONESTLY.

I hope that we'll be celebrating our ten year friendship anniversary.  I hope we'll be bridesmaids at each other's weddings.  I hope we'll get to meet each other IN REAL LIFE sooner rather than later.  But mostly I hope that we'll continue to be crazy friends until we're old and grey.  Because I don't think everyone gets the chance to have that one crazy-awesome person in their life, and I want to make the most of the blessings I've been given.  And I'm sure Jane and I both will.

I've heard it said,
That people come into our lives,
For a reason,
Bringing something we must learn,
And we are led to those who help us most to grow,
If we let them,
And we help them in return.
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true.
But I know I'm who I am today,
Because I knew you.

So much of me,

You'll be with me,
Like a handprint on my heart.
And now whatever way our stories end,
I know you have rewritten mine by being my friend.

Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
I do believe I have been changed for the better.
But, because I knew you,
I have been changed...
For good.

{what follows is a random bunch of pictures that mean a lot to us - both friendship stuff and private jokes.  enjoy the awesomeness}

You know who you are. I couldn't very well pin this back at you, so...;)
just realized this has, like, a triple meaning for us.  because of the whole
Darcelsaba thing, y'know?
@evaschon

just because I've never met her in real life doesn't make any difference.

THANK YOU FOR THIS POST!! I was giggling/tearing up through the whole thing and started to sing "Friendship is an Open Door" and "For Good" through it. ;) Ahhh, so many memories. Both writing my post and reading yours (I love how similar our posts are, btw!! It makes me feel Warm and Fuzzy. :)) brought back so many memories, like how awkward yet awesome our first Skype convo was and how we chatted every day when you were up at your grandparents', and that one Skype we had where we sang FIAOD and "Defying Gravity" and "Popular" and it was some of the worst singing I've ever done but I wasn't self-conscious at all. :) And while I was reading through our old emails, I was blushing at how dorky I sounded--and marveling at how we've both changed. Is Lesgles still your least favorite? Because if he isn't, we are SO Bossuet and Joly. Because I'm a malade imaginaire and you're so cheerful most of the time, and we're together so much. ;)
Anywayyyyy, little rabbit trail there...moving on. :P Do you remember when I didn't even know who Jack Cavanaugh WAS? O_O And when I was watching RH and sending you long squealy emails about it and all those puns we giggled about, and that one time I watched Les Mis and sent you an email about it ("AAAAAROONNNNNNNNNN TVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIT!!") and the "I NEED ENJO'S RIFLE" thread? Good times, good times. Here's to many more good times in the future!! =) (Including Sass Patrol and Ashley--I'm afraid I've not been Around much lately, but trust me, I haven't forgotten the amazing times we had in that group chat, and I look forward to more--especially when TWS comes out on DVD. ;))

D'awwwwwwww! Can we all get a group hug now. Thank you. :D

And yes, it totally counts to miss somebody even though you've never met them. I know that for a FACT. (It's a little bit worse after you do meet them though, sigh. Worth it, however.)

And you two SHALL meet someday, if you continue as strong in your friendship-- you have even more distance than a certain bestie of mine and I do, BUT on the bright side, you won't have to cross an ocean to get to each other, and that's better than some situations! ;) Have faith. :D

Anyways. Enjoy your warm fuzzies, girls. They're the best. :D

Ooh yes, there isn't any ocean--that IS a bright side to the situation. ;) And actually, I don't know if we're as far apart as you Tweens geographically-wise, but the passport situation is a problem. Haha.
Indeeeeed they are!! I love anniversaries. :D
