What To Do? What To Say?

No, this post is not going to be in the context of Thenardier's lines.  It just seemed to fit.
So.  Those of you who have been following my blog since June (or who like to browse old blog posts) probably know a little bit about the book I've been working on, A Fortnight in a Lighthouse.  I did a couple of interviews about it at Singin' My Own Song.
I finished it.  I'm feeling...I don't even know quite what.  A mixture of elation and depression, I suppose.  It's done, but I won't be able to make new discoveries about the characters, or change my plot dramatically in the middle of my book again.  All you writers out there, I'm sure you know how I feel.  And now...what am I going to do?
Well, I'll have a lot more free time.  My blogging has gotten pretty infrequent lately- I'm going to be writing more posts, going back to a fanfiction that I started before I began to work intensely on AFIAL.  I'll be reading more books (if that's possible), and hopefully crossing some movies off my list of moves-to-watch.
My mom is going to edit it and then I'll go over it and fix it up, and then I'll be sending it to a few friends to beta-read.
And now that's over, let me just say SQUEEEEEEEEE MY FIRST DRAFT IS DONE AND I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!

Congratulations! I know how exciting it can be to finish a first draft! Squee!!! I haven't been following your blog for very long, so I'll admit I don't know that much about your story, but just reading the title has me intrigued! Will you be looking to self-publish it once you get your edits done? I would say hurry up so we all could read it, but I'm going on a full year of editing, so I know how long the process can be! Stick to it, though! It's well worth the effort, and then your story is all the better for it!

Kiri Liz,
Thank you so much! I'm not sure yet whether I want to try traditional publishing or self-publishing, but I'll probably end up doing it myself. Right now I can't wait to dive into editing, but I know it'll probably get boring after a while. Still, there's always actually having your book in a bookstore to look forward to! :)
