Day 30: Your Favorite Song At This Time Last Year

This is the very...last...day of the 30 Song Challenge.  *sniffle*  It's been fun!  And I've posted a lot more than usual, which has helped to get my creative juices flowing (even though I got behind a lot--sorry!  I appreciate your patience. ;)).  I already have new ideas, and Regular Posts will resume after Labor Day.

Moving on from that...my favorite song at this time last year was definitely "On My Own".  I had just discovered Les Mis and Éponine was my very favorite character. (Wow, I've liked LM for over a year...0.o WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN.)  Now, I still like it, but I'm not sure if it's my favorite--I think I listened to it too much for awhile. :P

Days 28 & 29

Day 28: A Song That Makes You Feel Guilty
Like the Guilty Pleasure song, there aren't many songs that make me feel guilty.  I'm not exactly sure what this means, actually--am I supposed to feel guilty for listening to it?  Or guilty because I did something wrong and this song reminds me of it?  Are you tired of the word "guilty" yet? :P
Anyways...you know what this means (Yes, it means I'm freeee...).  Random song coming up!

Day 29: A Song From Your Childhood
Annnnd ABBA pops up again with "I Have A Dream," which I LOVED when I was younger.  I knew all the words to it and would always ask to skip to it on the CD. :)

Days 26 & 27

Um...sorry?  Somehow, being a Most Absentminded Blogger, I completely forgot about doing this for FOUR DAYS.  In case you hadn't noticed. :P  (In my defense, I *was* busy.  And not Pinterest-busy either. ;))

Anyways.  I'm putting the four days in two separate posts so it's not too overwhelming.

Day 26: A Song That You Can Play on an Instrument
I can play many songs on the violin and a few on the piano. :D  However, I figured it was time for another Star Wars song, so I picked "Across the Stars".  Isn't it pretty??

Day 27: A Song That You Wish You Could Play
Hmm, well, I'm not sure if this counts, but I've been trying to play "Stars" from Les Mis on violin for a longggg time, and it always sounds horrible. :P

Day 25: A Song That Makes You Laugh

There are actually fewer songs than you'd think that really make me laugh, but one that always brings a grin on is "What Is This Feeling?" from Wicked.

Saturday, August 23, 2014

Day 23: A Song That You Want To Play At Your Wedding

I haven't actually devoted too much though to this, but I would like "I See The Light" at my wedding.  Yes yes yes, I'm unoriginal.  It's my (hypothetical) wedding. :P

Friday, August 22, 2014

Day 22: A Song That You Listen To When You're Sad

When I'm sad, I don't listen to happy songs.  Instead, I pull a Marianne and listen to the saddest songs I can think of--probably while swaying along to the music. :P
(Speaking of, what is it with all these "dream" songs?  The next thing I know, I'll be copying Betsy-Tacy and singing, "Dreaming, dreaming...of your red auto I am dreeeeeaming...")

Day 20: A Song That You Listen To When You're Angry

Well, what do you know, I'm actually on schedule!  Yay for me!
When I'm angry, I rarely listen to music, but when I do, it's generally something like, "Do You Hear the People Sing?" because Les Mis always cheers me up (strange as that sounds), and because belting out DYHTPS at the top of my lungs is a good way to get anger out of my system. :P

Days 18 & 19

Day 18: A Song That You Wish You Heard On the Radio
This one was pretty easy.  I wish "Defying Gravity" played on the radio more.  Well, I'd love to have all the songs from Wicked on the radio, but DG in particular because it'd be so much fun to belt it out in the car. :D

Day 19: A Song From Your Favorite Album
Um...does Les Mis count??

Sunday, August 17, 2014

Days 16 & 17

Ugh.  Um, sorry?  Maybe I should just do two songs, every other day.
Day 16: A Song That You Used to Love But Now Hate
This was another hard one; I can't think of any songs that I loved when I was younger that I hate now.  So...random time again!
...Ooh, Jane Austen.  What do you know. :D

Day 17: A Song That You Hear Often On the Radio
Ehm...I don't listen to the radio too much.  I sometimes hear "Royals" by Lorde, I guess?  But I'm not going to put it on here because I have no idea of its appropriateness.

Days 14 & 15

The biggest thing that this whole challenge has taught me so far is that I'm truly terrible at sticking to schedules. :P  I do apologize again, I was busy, &c., &c...onward we go.
Day 14: A Song That No One Would Expect You To Love
Well, I'm not sure if no-one would expect me to love this song, but it's pretty far removed from my normal fare.  It's still one of my favorite non-Broadway songs...it was the end credits song in Eragon, and so I used to listen to it every day when I was a big fan of said movie.  I still love the song, but I appreciate it more now for the music/lyrics than for its relationship to a fandom--and it brings back lots of good memories.
Said song, btw, is "Keep Holding On" by Avril Lavigne. :P

Day 15: A Song That Describes You
I thought long and hard about this one, but I couldn't think of any song that really describes me.  So instead, I'll give you one of my favorite violin pieces--both to play and to listen to. :)

HACKED BY YOUR BESTIE

<3
Because this is us.
{for those of you who don't understand the title, I, Eva, have hacked Jane's blog for the evening.  It's a super special occasion - the one year anniversary of our friendship, in fact - and you probably won't understand much of this besides the fact that I think she's awesomeness-sauce.  So, if you don't want to read this, you don't have to.  It's more of a letter to her, really, but you're welcome to stay if you want, just...be warned of craziness ahead}

One year ago, today, I read an email.  It was from a gal who'd been commenting on my blog for sometime, one who I'd designed a blog for, one who'd sent me an email that said something along the lines of "Hey, when you're done designing my blog, could we exchange emails?  Because I'd totally like to get to know you." {wording varies...I'm almost positive she could pull up the exact email, but my emails are a bear to sort through, so...}  And, with a grin, I opened up a new email and sent it off to her.  I'm terrible at telling people all about myself right off, so I asked her if she could tell me her likes/dislikes and I then I could tell her mine.  So she did...and it quickly got crazy. {a good kind of crazy}

Yes.

We liked {and still do like} all of the same stuff!  The same flavour of ice cream {mint chocolate...just reading those words brings up a flood of memories and insides jokes now}, the same classical composer {Vivaldi}, all the same classic books...EVERYTHING.  And the stuff one of us liked, but that the other hadn't read/watched/listened to was still talked about until eventually the other person got to experience it too.  Like Johnny Tremain.  Honestly, Jane, I'm so incredibly grateful that you introduced me to JT.  And 39 Clues.  And The Westing Game.  It works both ways, actually, since I got her super-obsessed with Jack Cavanaugh's books.  FOR THE WIN. *ahem*  Rabbit trail there...

AHHH. @evaschon Where can these be bought, Sherlock?? =)
didn't we work out that I'm Holmes and you're Watson?
We have so many inside jokes I couldn't even be able to count them.  Oodles of nicknames for each other.  Frozen is 'our' musical and '[Friendship] Is An Open Door' is totally our song. {so is 'For Good', but that's more mainstream, y'know?}  We've exchanged several REAL letters, countless emails {honestly} and tons of Skype chats. {we text-chat on Skype as well}  If the international rates weren't so high, we'd probably call each other on the phone as well.  We watch movies together {okay, just episodes of Rat Patrol, but we want to branch out sometime soon} and basically do a bunch of awesome stuff.  Now, you might think that since we both like all the same things, we couldn't possibly find stuff to talk about all the time...

*bursts into gales of laughter*
*wipes tears of laughter away*
*clears throat*

Sorry.  Sorry about that.  But we talk to each other all the time, and our emails are still going strong.  We've laughed together and cried together and, I'll admit it, even been angry at each other at times.  But, you know what?  We're still friends after a year, and I think that's awesome.  I have a few close friends, but Jane is the only one I can be totally crazy with.  Unintelligible gibberish sent at all hours because I'm having a feels attack.  Sending her horrible first drafts because I know she won't rip it {and me} to shreds.  Chatting about weird stuff, pretty much in code, because of inside jokes.  AND THE WHOLE THING MAKES ME SO HAPPY.  HONESTLY.

I hope that we'll be celebrating our ten year friendship anniversary.  I hope we'll be bridesmaids at each other's weddings.  I hope we'll get to meet each other IN REAL LIFE sooner rather than later.  But mostly I hope that we'll continue to be crazy friends until we're old and grey.  Because I don't think everyone gets the chance to have that one crazy-awesome person in their life, and I want to make the most of the blessings I've been given.  And I'm sure Jane and I both will.

I've heard it said,
That people come into our lives,
For a reason,
Bringing something we must learn,
And we are led to those who help us most to grow,
If we let them,
And we help them in return.
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true.
But I know I'm who I am today,
Because I knew you.

So much of me,

You'll be with me,
Like a handprint on my heart.
And now whatever way our stories end,
I know you have rewritten mine by being my friend.

Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
I do believe I have been changed for the better.
But, because I knew you,
I have been changed...
For good.

{what follows is a random bunch of pictures that mean a lot to us - both friendship stuff and private jokes.  enjoy the awesomeness}

You know who you are. I couldn't very well pin this back at you, so...;)
just realized this has, like, a triple meaning for us.  because of the whole
Darcelsaba thing, y'know?
@evaschon

just because I've never met her in real life doesn't make any difference.

Day Thirteen: A Song that is a Guilty Pleasure

It was hard to pick a song for this because if a song makes me feel guilty, I generally don't listen to it. :P  But most Taylor Swift songs make me feel guilty because I actually like a lot of the music and I feel like I shouldn't since I generally don't Appreciate that sort of Thing.
So, the song that is a guilty pleasure is "Mean" by Taylor Swift.  I don't really agree with the message, but the video is pretty sweet.

Whoops...

Somehow I forgot to post Day 11 yesterday!  Blame it on my busy schedule.   In any case, here's a double for today.

Day 11: A Song From Your Favorite Band
I've quite probably only listened to one actual "band" in my life: ABBA, which I used to love and still listen to occasionally.  So...I guess it counts as my favorite?  In any case, "Fernando" is a nice song.

Day 12: A Song From a Band You Hate
Well, I guess I hate a lot of bands in theory (that is, I'd probably hate them if I ever bothered to listen to them, due to my dislike of rock/pop music in general), but as I've never really felt enough interest to listen to bands, it's not fair to say that I "hate" any band.  Time for a random!
...Which turned out to be "Tale as Old as Time".  Awwwwww.

Day Ten: A Song That Makes You Fall Asleep

Songs generally make me want to stay awake and listen to the whole thing.  Snort.  But if I WERE to fall asleep to a song, I think it'd be "Music of the Night," actually.  I find it has a rather soporific effect (like lettuce on rabbits.  Heehee.).

Day Nine: A Song That You Can Dance To

Y'know what, I'm not even going to explain this.  I dare you not to want to dance with this song.

Friday, August 8, 2014

Day Eight: A Song That You Know All the Words To

Ehehehe.  I know all the words to a lot of songs, but I'm picking "Ich Lass Los"--the German version of "Let It Go," because memorizing all the words to this song is an Accomplishment I'm Proud Of. ;)

Day Seven: A Song That Reminds You of a Certain Event

Oooh, this one's fun.  I choose "One Short Day" from Wicked, because last year I had the privilege to see it live.  I didn't know too much about it then--I hadn't even listened to the complete soundtrack--and so the day before I went to see it, I was going around singing "One Day More".  Then I remembered this song, and it made me Very Happy to be able to sing about seeing Wicked the next day with a song from that musical. ;)

Day Six: A Song That Reminds You of Somewhere

"Dancing Queen" by ABBA always reminds me of my family's cabin.  When I was a little kid, we used to keep an ABBA CD in the family van, and "Dancing Queen" was the first track, and we would always sing along with it when we drove up to our cabin.  It was a lot of fun. :)

Day Five: A Song That Reminds You of Someone

"Ooh-De-Lally" from Disney's 1973 animated movie Robin Hood always reminds me of my best bloggy friend Eva.  Becauuuse we both really love that movie, and whenever it comes on I always giggle, remembering the lengthy emails we exchanged on the subject. :)

Day Four: A Song That Makes You Sad

This is a harder one than yesterday's because EVERY SINGLE SONG in a Musical Which Shall Not Be Named makes me sad. :P  But I figure, why not pick a song that's not only sad but beautiful?  Thus, "A Little Fall of Rain".

Sunday, August 3, 2014

Day Three: A Song That Makes You Happy

Hmmm, there are a lot of songs that make me happy.  But "For the First Time In Forever" probably wins the award for this one; every time I listen to it, I just want to go sliding down spiral staircases and hurling cakes around. :D

Saturday, August 2, 2014

Day Two: Your Least Favorite Song

My least favorite song?  Hmmm, um.
Well.
I don't have one. :P  Soooo I'm just going to copy Melody here and put in a random song, which happens to be...
"Think Of Me" from Phantom of the Opera.  PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS NOT MY LEAST FAVORITE SONG. :P

Friday, August 1, 2014

Day One: Your Favorite Song

Annnnd this day right here may be the hardest day of the challenge. :P  Hmmm, well, I'm just going to be arbitrary here and choose..."One Day More" from Les Misérables. For obvious reasons. ;)
